Our Story
2016
- Collaboratively organizing Montessori Asia Conference Hong Kong 2017 with The Education University of Hong Kong Early Childhood Department, Association for Childhood Education International-Hong Kong & Macau, Montessori Asia and Hong Kong Montessori Research and Development Association.
- The second American Montessori Society (AMS) Teacher Education Programme in Hong Kong.
2015
- Montessori Conference in Shanghai 2015: ICW founder Daisy Lau presented “The Art of Parent Education”
- Daisy Lau was invited to HKIEd to give a talk on “Starting Young: Montessori Education” to Hong Chi Schools.
- Hong Kong University Graduates Association Education Foundation Conference 2015: ICW founder Ralph Yau was invited to give a talk on Montessori Education
2014
- Montessori Asia Conference in Moscow: ICW founder Ralph Yau presented the essay titled “The Concept of balance in Montessori philosophy and Chinese Philosophy”
- Hong Kong University Graduates Association Education Foundation Conference 2014: ICW founder Ralph Yau was invited to give a talk on Montessori Education
- Daisy Lau was invited to Ediversity Conference to give a talk on Montessori Education”
2013
- Montessori Asia Conference in Moscow: ICW founder Ralph Yau presented the essay titled “A Participatory Model: How do Montessorians Cope with the Fast-changing Society”.
2012
- We launch the first International Teacher Education Programme in Hong Kong, which is American Montessori Society (AMS) affliated and Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (MACTE) accredited. The Program is organised by Infinity Children's School in cooperation with Montessori Teacher Education Center San Francisco Bay Area (MTEC/SFBA).
- ICW founder Daisy Lau presented the essay “The Art of Observation” at the Montessori Asia Conference in Singapore. ICW teachers attended the conference, our founder Daisy Lau presented the dissertation titled “The Beginning: The Art of Parent Education” and the other founder Ralph Yau presented “Preventive Education and Preventive Medicine: The Normalization of Parents”
2011
- Our founders were on the discussion panel at the Montessori Asia Conference at Beijing.
- Chosen by the 63rd OMEP (World Organization for Early Childhood Education) World Conference as a visiting school site in Hong Kong.
- Parent education:Provision of parent education in Dalian, Shenzhen, Nanning of Guangxi, Macau, and Hong Kong.
- Teacher Training: Provision of teacher training for about a hundred kindergartens in Dalian, Nanning of Guangxi, and Hong Kong
2010
- Ralph Yau was on the discussion panel at the “Future of Montessori in Asia” conference in Seoul Korea. He also presented two presentations titled “Montessori Education and Chinese Medicine” and “The Key to Running Montessori Parent Education Programmes”
- Ambassador Soliven from UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organizations), the founder of O.B. Montessori Center in the Philippines, visited the Kowloon Tong campus and engaged in close and constructive dialogues with our parents and directresses.
Daisy and Ralph were invited to attend a panel discussion on “The Integration of Western Educational Approaches and Chinese Traditional Culture” in Nanjing. Descents of the renowned Chinese educator Chen Heqin were also at the meeting.
Educators and Kindergarten principles from Shandong, Hangzhou, Nanning, and Shenzhen came to our school for cultural exchange
The Grand Opening ceremony of the Kowloon Tong School Campus was held in the summer of 2010. Many honorable guests attended the event such as the Founder of Chinese Montessori Foundation Mr. Jimmy Po, an eminent educator in China and Hong Kong Ms. Chan-Chen Shu-an, the Chief Executive Officer of American Montessori Society Mr. Richard Ungerer, the Director of Teachers Training of American Montessori Society Ms. Doris Sommer, the director of Montessori Research Institution in Japan Mr. Kimitoshi Matsuura, the Board Chairman of Montessori Research Foundation in Taiwan Ms. Angel Zhou and the Manager of Nienhuis Montessori in Netherlands Mr. Christian Willemsen.
Shu-An’s Library was set up in our Kowloon Tong School Campus
Organized a 60-hour teachers training for 15 Tung Wah Kindergartens
Helped set up a Nienhuis Montessori materials showroom in Shanghai
2009
- Presented a dissertation titled “The Montessori Parent Education Movement” at the Asian World International Montessori Conference 2009 in Taiwan, and received an award from the President of the American Montessori Society.
- Organized a seminar for parents from the Hong Kong Books Exhibition and Tung Wah Group of Hospitals.
- Organized teachers training for Tseung Kwan O Methodist Kindergarten
- Montessorians from China, United States, Malaysia, Japan, Canada, India, Philippines, and Taiwan visited our Prince Edward school.
- Provided children’s materials for the Hong Kong Hospital Authority Special Care Department.
- Invited by the Korea Gifted School’s Executive Manager to participate in an academic exchange
- Began to write educational articles for Hong Kong’s newspaper and magazines
- Organized the first caregiver education class
- Our founders were invited by Radio Television Hong Kong to feature in the program “Hong Kong Connection”
- Invited by the Radio Television Hong Kong to speak on one of their radio shows
- Organized the 1st Montessori Aged 0-3 (30 hours) Parent Education Class in Hong Kong
- Set up a Parent Education Class for Pok Oi Hospital-Nursery Section
